
Dubai, UAE – On the evening of 25 October 2024, the Picasso Gallery in Dubai welcomed an exceptional gathering of guests to the opening night of "A Journey of Shared Spirits," an exhibition curated by Yumi Jeong. The event was graced by Lee Beomchan, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai, Lee Yong-hee, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in the UAE, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Qasimi, the UAE Royal Family, showcasing the strong ties between the Korean and UAE communities. The exhibition will continue to run until 31 October 2024.
"A Journey of Shared Spirits" showcases the works of ten talented Korean artists living in the UAE: Suyeon Ko, Sunju Kwon, Minyeong Kim, Suha Kim, Eunhee Kim, Ji-Hye Kim, Wooyoung Na, Myunghee Ryou, Kyung Ah Chung, and Misook(Mia) Jung. Through various mediums such as sculpture, Korean painting, acrylic, watercolor, and printmaking, these artists present their experiences and emotions shaped by their lives in the UAE. The artworks capture the people they have met, the spaces they have inhabited, and the objects they have encountered, blending their Korean heritage with their UAE residency.
The opening night they featured a vibrant atmosphere with distinguished guests and art enthusiasts who engaged with the artists and explored the unique perspectives reflected in their works. The exhibition emphasizes the deep connections and cultural exchange between Korea and the UAE, aiming to evoke empathy and offer comfort through shared experiences.
Curator Yumi Jeong expressed her gratitude for the community's support and highlighted the significance of this event in fostering cross-cultural dialogue: "We are honored to have had such esteemed guests join us on this special evening. The exhibition celebrates shared stories and the beautiful journey of connection between our two cultures."
