Blackpink's Rosé secures record-breaking 8 MTV VMA nominations

Dubai, UAE: K-pop icon Rosé of the global sensation Blackpink, is celebrating a historic achievement. The 28-year old singer has secured an unprecedented eight nominations at this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
According to a list of nominees announced by MTV on its website, Rosé's work has garnered nods in some of the most coveted categories.
Seven of these nominations were for 'APT' her viral collaboration with Bruno Mars, which has been nominated for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects.
Her song, "toxic till the end," also earned her a nomination in the Best K-pop category.
In a series of posts on her Instagram Story, the artist expressed astonishment and gratitude.
She said: "I am beyond shocked and I just don't know what to say. I am absolutely speechless. This is a crazy day. It's really, really wild! What's happening?"
Good news for Blackpink fans is that Rosé isn't the only one nominated. Her bandmates also received significant solo recognition. Jennie was nominated for "like Jennie," Jisoo for "earthquake," and Lisa for "Born Again."
On August 8, the girl group completed nine years since their debut in 2016.

The Best K-pop category, a testament to the genre's explosive popularity, features a competitive lineup. In addition to Rosé, the category includes solo artist Jimin for "Who," girl group Aespa for "Whiplash," and boy band Stray Kids for "Chk Chk Boom."
The VMAs are recognized as one of the most prominent music awards in the United States. They will be held at New York's UBS Arena on September 8, where the music world will be watching to see if Rose and her bandmates can turn these historic nominations into wins.
