Tashkeel Announces September Workshops Across Art, Design and Creative Practice
Programme spans workshops in ceramics, textiles, photography, painting, personal branding and art strategy.
Dubai, UAE – August 28, 2026: This September, Tashkeel invites Dubai’s creative community to get hands on, experiment across disciplines and learn something new, with a programme of workshops spanning ceramics, textiles, photography, painting, personal branding and art strategy. Taking place at Tashkeel Nad Al Sheba and the Tashkeel Makerspace at Alserkal Avenue, the programme offers practical sessions and multi-week courses for curious beginners, experienced makers, emerging artists and creative professionals looking to develop their skills and creative practice.
The programme covers traditional and contemporary techniques, from wheel throwing, surface treatment on clay and slab building to silk ribbon embroidery, cyanotype textile printing and beeswax collage. It also includes sessions focused on watercolour, cartoon portraiture, personal branding and the strategic role that corporate art collections can play, offering participants opportunities to develop both creative and professional skills.

6 September – 25 October 2026 | Every Sunday | 11:00 am-1:00 pm

An eight-session introduction to wheel throwing, covering centring, opening and pulling before moving through bowls, plates, planters, vases, collaring, trimming and kiln preparation. The series is for ages 16–70.
12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 September; 3, 4 October | 11.00am–1.00pm
Location: Tashkeel Nad Al Sheba | Instructor/Mentor: Fayezah Manshadi | Fee: AED 1,500 (+VAT)
A hands-on series exploring silk ribbon embroidery, beadwork and three-dimensional stump work, progressing from foundational stitches to the design and completion of a wearable embroidered brooch. No prior experience is required.
12 & 19 September | 11.00am–1.00pm

A two-session workshop for participants with some prior experience, focusing on composition, colour harmony, layering, glazing, texture, light, depth and atmosphere while developing and refining a finished landscape.

A playful session for young artists exploring portrait drawing, exaggerated features, emotions and colour while developing their own cartoon style and creating a finished portrait to take home.
13 & 20 September | 3.00–6.00pm

A two-session ceramics workshop combining wheel throwing, surface decoration and glazing. Participants create bowls, cups or small vessels, then explore carving, stamping, texturing, sgraffito, coloured slips, underglazes and glazing.
20 & 27 September | 11.00am–1.00pm

Participants work with their own photographs, letters and visual fragments alongside beeswax, handmade paper, linen and collage materials to create a tactile artwork shaped by memory and personal imagery. Participants are encouraged to bring 6–8 personal photographs or printed documents.
20 & 27 September | 3.00–6.00pm

An introduction to cyanotype printing on fabric, using light-sensitive chemistry, botanical elements, found objects or photographic negatives to create blue-and-white textile artworks through sunlight exposure and washing.
26 September | 2.00–4.00pm
Location: Tashkeel Makerspace, Alserkal Avenue (Warehouse 89) | Instructor/Mentor: Subin Herbert | Fee: AED 350 (+VAT)
A hands-on introduction to slab building, covering even rolling, thickness and moisture control, scoring and slipping, and shaping clay into functional or sculptural forms such as cups, bowls, plates, cones and sculptures. Participants' pieces will be left at the studio for bisque firing.

Artist/Educator Bios
Fayezah Manshadi is an artist, fashion designer and university professor with more than 20 years of expertise in luxury silk embroidery and advanced fabric manipulation. A graduate of ESMOD in France with a master’s degree from Italy, she also trained with master embroiderers at the Royal School of Needlework. She currently teaches fashion, fabric and materials at Istituto Marangoni in Italy, bringing haute couture techniques and specialist textile knowledge to her workshops at Tashkeel.
Bonny Mathew is a self-taught artist from Kerala, India, specialising in watercolour and oil painting. His practice is inspired by everyday scenes, landscapes, people and still life, with a particular focus on capturing atmosphere, light and shade through subtle colour palettes. A member of Tashkeel, he also works en plein air and leads workshops exploring landscape painting and watercolour techniques.
Shiena Fenol is a multidisciplinary artist and designer with a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and Design, working across visual arts, design and education. Her experience spans traditional and digital mediums, including background and character design for online games. She also spent over five years running an independent art studio in the Philippines, mentoring artists of different ages and backgrounds. She is currently Studio Coordinator at Tashkeel, where she contributes to arts programming and leads hands-on workshops encouraging creative exploration and skill development.
Asad Hafeez a ceramic artist and honours graduate in Ceramic Design from the National College of Arts in Lahore. His practice explores cultural narratives through ceramics, combining skilled craftsmanship with innovative design and a strong connection to nature and the transformative qualities of clay. Asad has exhibited his work, participated in artist talks and led workshops, including hands-on sessions in wheel throwing, surface decoration and ceramic techniques.
Fabiola Chiminazzo a Brazilian visual artist based in Dubai whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, printmaking, drawing, objects and installation. A graduate of FAAP in São Paulo, she has exhibited widely in Brazil and internationally, with her work exploring memory, perception and the psychological landscapes of human experience. Her work is held in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Arts of Sorocaba, Brazil, and she is currently pursuing an MFA at NYU Abu Dhabi.
Haider Mehdi an Indian graphic designer and silk screen artist based in Dubai, whose practice combines digital design with traditional printmaking. His work explores the interplay of colour, texture and composition, with expertise in CMYK colour separation, multi-layer printing and studio production. At Tashkeel, he contributes to hands-on printmaking workshops, bringing a strong focus on technical precision, craftsmanship and experimentation.
Subin Herbert an Indian pottery artist who combines traditional and contemporary techniques to create distinctive ceramic vessels and organic forms. His practice spans handbuilding methods including pinching, coiling and slab construction, as well as wheel throwing influenced by both Chinese and Western ceramic traditions. Passionate about making pottery accessible, he works with children, beginners and experienced artists through engaging, hands-on workshops at Tashkeel.
