The Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) has partnered up with a large-scale of public and private partnerships to hold K-Travel Week that happened on May 1 – 6 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The purpose of the event was to promote the economic and diplomatic achievements between Korea and the UAE, as agreed by President Yoon Suk Yeol and the UAE leadership in January. On the first day of the inaugural session, Mr. Jaewhan Lee, Vice President of KTO inaugurated the event at the Address Sky View in Dubai, which a large number of people attended.
The K-Travel Week included the Arabian Travel Market from May 1st – 4th, was the largest tourism exhibition in the Middle East. It featured K-Tourism Startup IR and business agreements with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau. Over 100 local tourism companies were invited to the travel mart to expand bilateral tourism exchanges, as well as the K-Cultural Roadshow to introduce the various aspects of the Korean culture to the people of the UAE during the first week of May.
19 Startups participated in the K-Tourism Startup IR, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East. The event aimed to support the global expansion of domestic tourism companies leap and help tech-based tourism startups enter the Middle Eastern market.
The Korean tourism promotion booth at ATM 2023 focused on rebuilding the network between the local and domestic industries, which collapsed during the pandemic. A total of 26 institutions, including the Middle Eastern inbound travel agencies, local governments, medical industries, and tourism venture companies, participated in order to expand their networks with the local industry and promote Korean tourism by their individual fields.
The Korean Tourism promotion booth at ATM 2023 was designed to reinterpret the nature of K-Culture and the progressive Pan Oceanic line through traditional Korean roof caves and window frames. It featured a modern design concept that envisions a new leap forward for the Korean tourism in the era of the pandemic. A “Korean Resting” space, were visitors can feel the relaxation and wellness of Korea, the Korean traditional tea was available in the B2B-oriented ATM exhibition hall.
A K-Tourism roadshow with the slogan “To Korea where K-Culture Begins” was held for two days from the 5th – 6th of May at the Dubai Festival City Mall, a large shopping mall in the Dubai. Visitors experienced various fields of K-Culture, included Korean food, hanbok – the traditional Korean clothing experience, beauty, jjimjilbang – the Korean sauna experience, lastly, family movie screenings. The event featured performances by ‘MCND’ a Korea pop band, a collaboration of traditional and pop music by ‘Seodo Band’, VIDAN, and a random play dance by the famous YouTuber ‘Go Toe’.
