ABU DHABI, UAE – The Korean Cultural Centre in the United Arab Emirates will soon open a special summer exhibition for children, "Beyond Picture Books: Story Playground!", from 1 August to 22 August 2025.

This interactive event, located at the Korean Cultural Centre in Yas Creative Hub, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, promises a journey into the world of Korean picture books.

The exhibition features works by Korea's most celebrated picture book authors. Children will engage with interactive content, allowing them to see, listen, and experience stories in new ways. Renowned figures like Baek Heena and Choi Deokkyu, recipients of the Bologna Ragazzi Award, are included. Lee Suzy, winner of the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Award, also features. Families across the UAE are expected to show great interest.

The collection includes a range of genres, from traditional folktales to modern original stories. Visitors can explore these narratives at their own pace. The immersive stories and illustrations will spark imagination and deepen understanding of Korean culture.

A special highlight is the animated video screening of "Magic Candies" (Al-Satang). This popular adaptation, based on Baek Heena's beloved picture book, has received acclaim in Korea and internationally. Screenings will take place in the Arirang Hall within the centre on specific dates. These include 6 August at 4pm, 14 August at 4pm, 17 August at 12pm, and 19 August at 12pm.

The exhibition is open Sunday to Thursday from 10am to 6pm, and on Friday from 10am to 2pm. The centre is closed on Saturdays. Admission is free for all visitors.

A representative from the Korean Cultural Centre stated, "This exhibition goes beyond books—it is a cultural space where imagination grows, and families can connect through shared experiences. We warmly welcome all children and parents to join us this summer break."
