Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – January 23, 2025 – The Korean Cultural Center in the UAE, led by Director Lee Yong Hee, is pleased to announce its upcoming Lunar New Year celebration themed the ‘Year of the Blue Snake’. The event will take place on Thursday, January 30th, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Korean Cultural Center in the UAE.
This open celebration welcomes both UAE nationals and international residents to experience the rich cultural heritage of Korea through a series of engaging activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, traditional games, goal-setting sessions, and enjoy authentic Korean cuisine.
Event Highlights Include:
· Round and Round: A group-based traditional game inspired by “Squid Game Season 2,” encouraging teamwork and fun.
· Fortune-Making: Create personalized bokjumeoni (fortune pouches), symbolizing good luck and prosperity for the new year.
· New Year’s Goals: Design a folding screen to visualize and set personal aspirations for the year ahead.
· Tteokguk Experience: Share a bowl of tteokguk (traditional rice cake soup), a dish that signifies the welcoming of the new year and the attainment of wisdom and longevity.
Additional Activities:
Prior to the main event, a special workshop on crafting traditional cosmetics (lip balm) will be conducted in collaboration with the Korea National University of Heritage. This session will explore the cosmetic traditions of the Joseon royal court, offering participants an immersive experience in K-Beauty heritage.
All programs are free of charge, ensuring accessibility for all interested individuals. Participants are encouraged to reserve their spots in advance by completing the RSVP form available on the Korean Cultural Center’s website.
