From May 28 to 31, 2026, Sandbox Events will transform the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) into a sprawling celebration of pop culture, marking the first-ever DWTC convention created entirely by the community, for the community.
In a powerful partnership with DXB LIVE, presented by Sandstorm Comics, and with ticketing powered by Virgin Megastore Tickets, Sandbox Swapmeet Volume 8 is more than just an event—it is a testament to the resilience of Dubai. It is a high-octane signal to the world that no matter the challenges, this city and its creative heart always bounce back stronger, more united, and more vibrant than before.
The Visionary Behind the Movement
At the helm of this transformation is Abdulla Alsuwaidi, an Emirati-Filipino owner whose roots and expertise have bridged the gap between grassroots passion and corporate excellence. Alsuwaidi’s leadership has turned a shared hobby into a national milestone, providing the strategic foundation to scale a "homegrown" dream into the halls of the World Trade Centre.

• Jumel Chua (Community Builder & Founder): The architect of the "By the Community" concept. Chua created the foundation for this movement, making it explode by uniting diverse groups—from TCG players, Beyblade bladers, and Tamiya racers to Lego builders, die-cast collectors, K-pop performers, and cosplayers.
• Lee Charles Dalena (Mastermind & Co-Founder): The engineer of the pop-culture machinery. Dalena is the visionary behind the explosive growth, instrumental in closing the deals that took Sandbox from pop-up tents to Sheikh Saeed Halls 2 & 3.
